Wurzburg 1775-MP thaler Dav-2902
This specimen was lot 2209 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,214 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"GERMANY | Würzburg, Bistum. Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim, 1755-1779. Konventionstaler 1775, Würzburg. Gutes vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (Germany, bishopric of Würzburg, Adam Frederick of Seinsheim, 1755-79, convention thaler of 1775, Wurzburg mint. Good extremely fine, Extraordinary condition.)"
This type was struck 1773-79 and is listed as fairly common. Adam Frederick ruled his diocese 1755-79. He was also bishop of Bamberg. The territory was annexed to Bavaria in 1803.
