Wurzburg 1726 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 2208 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$607 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"GERMANY | Würzburg, Bistum. Christoph Franz von Hutten, 1724-1729. 1/2 Taler 1726, Würzburg. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, bishopric of Würzburg, Christopher Francis of Hutten, 1724-29, half thaler of 1726, Wurzburg mint. About extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1726 only and is listed as very scarce. Christoph Franz von Hutten ruled his diocese 1724-29. Unlike his predecessor or his successor, he was not simultaneously bishop of Bamberg. The territory was annexed to Bavaria in 1803.
