Künker sale 406, lot 4435

This specimen was lot 4435 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,115 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, Eberhard Ludwig, 1693-1733. Reichstaler 1707, Augsburg. RR Hübsche Patina, Henkelspur, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (duchy of Württemberg, Eberhard Louis, 1693-1733, thaler of 1707, Augsburg mint. Very rare, mount mark, very fine to extremely fine.)"

The auctioneers did not mention the scratch across the duke's face. This example realized only one-third of the catalog value. The SCWC states this type should have engraver's initial "C", which we don't see on this example. Wurttemberger coinage prior to the 1730's is rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 28.87 g.

Catalog reference: KM 291, Dav-2849; Forster 919; Klein/Raff 43.
