The first specimen was lot 4468 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €5,500 (about US$7,197 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH. Eberhard Ludwig, 1693-1733. Reichstaler 1728, Stuttgart. Ausbeute der Grube Drei-Königstern. R Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Wurttemberg, Eberhard Louis, 1693-1733, thaler of 1728, Stuttgart mint, for the Star of Three Kings mine. Scarce, very fine to extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 31222 in Heritage sale 3105 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $10,200. The catalog description[2] noted, "German States: Württemberg. Eberhard Ludwig Taler 1728 MS64 NGC, Stuttgart mint. Minted from silver found at the Drei-Königstern mine. A mesmerizing survivor of this type, displaying boldly rendered devices, enshrouded in a graphite and harbor-gray patina. Ex. Köhlmoos Collection (Münzen & Medaillen AG Basel Auction 91, March 2001, Lot 628); Virgil Brand Collection, Part 4 (Leu Numismatik Auction 69, June 1997, Lot 5439). From the Cape Coral Collection, Part II." None of the Wurttemberg thalers before Napoleon are common but this one is quite rare and expensive. The next thaler (Dav-2851) would be issued Karl Rudolf, regent for his successor, Karl Alexander.
