Wurttemberg 1623-CT thaler Dav-7850B
This specimen was lot 4431 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabruck, March 2024), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,149 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, Johann Friedrich, 1608-1628. Reichstaler 1623, Christophstal. RR Kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (duchy of Württemberg, John Frederick, 1608-28, thaler of 1623, Christofsthal mint. Very rare, small edge defects, very fine to extremely fine.)"
Thalers for 1623 include KM 140/Dav-7850, KM 141/Dav-7850A, KM 142/Dav-7850D, KM 143/Dav-7850B (shown here), KM 144/Dav-7850C and KM 145/Dav-7851. The duke was also an enthusiastic issuer of kipper coinage.
