Wurttemberg 1622-CT 60 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 2543 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$528 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Württemberg, Grafschaft, 1495 Herzogtum, 1803 Kurfürstentum, 1806 Königreich. Johann Friedrich, 1608-1628. Kipper-Gulden (60 Kreuzer) 1622, Christophstal. Hirschgulden. Äusserst selten. Fast sehr schön. Schrötlingsfehler. (Germany, duchy of Württemberg, John Frederick, 1608-28, kipper sixty kreuzer of 1622, Christofsthal mint, "stag gulden". Extremely rare, About Very Fine, Flan flaw.)"
The duke must have been an enthusiastic participant in the production fo kipper coinage, as the SCWC notes four different sixty kreuzer (KM 99 (oval arms, deer reverse), KM 129 (squared arms, deer reverse), KM 130 (bust obverse), KM 132 (bust obverse)) for 1622 alone. Mintmark CT is not listed for 1622. It weighs less than half of what a gulden (two-thirds thaler) should weigh.
