This specimen was lot 1394 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €600 (about US$809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WORMS, STADT, Reichstaler 1617, auf die 100-Jahrfeier der Reformation. RR Henkelspur, sehr schön. (Germany, city of Worms, thaler of 1617, on the centennial of the Reformation. Rare, mount mark, very fine.)"

This rare type commemorated the Reformation. The date is in a chronogram on the reverse legend. Worms neighbored Pfalz but was never part of it, being a free city. It was destroyed by the French in 1689 and never recovered its former importance. It was annexed to France 1801-15 but then passed to Hesse-Darmstadt.
