This specimen was lot 25259 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $862.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "West Friesland. 3 Gulden 1793, MS62 PCGS, lustrous surfaces with bold design features." This specimen is from a type struck in Westfriesland throughout the eighteenth century until 1794, when the United Provinces were invaded and occupied by the French. This subtype (KM 141.2) is known for 1714 and 1776, 1781, 1785-86, 1791-94. Its face value was 60 stuivers. Overdates 1793/85 and 1793/92 are recorded for the year. The Low Countries did not regain their independence until 1815, with the formation of the kingdom of the Netherlands.
