This specimen was lot 1521 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it sold for $587.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "HOLLAND: AR 3 gulden, 1791. nice light peripheral tone, highest graded by NGC, NGC graded MS62." This specimen is from a type struck in Holland 1763-64, 1771, 1791-94, when the United Provinces were invaded and occupied by the French. Altho tariffed at 60 stuivers, the same as a silver ducaton, it is about 5% lighter than that coin. The Low Countries did not regain their independence until 1815, with the formation of the kingdom of the Netherlands.
