This specimen was lot 1888 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (Irvine, July 2011), where it sold for $69. The catalog description noted, "NETHERLANDS. United Provinces. West Frisia. Lion Daalder, 1611. Standing Knight supports Dutch shield. Rv. Rampant lion. Typically crude planchet and strike. Cleaned. CHOICE VERY FINE." Lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. This type is recorded in the SCWC for Westfriesland with various mintmarks for 1606-1700.
