Sincona sale 69, lot 905

This specimen was lot 905 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 950 CHF (about US$1,261 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"THE NETHERLANDS | Westfriesland, Provinz. Dukat 1587. Ungarischer Typ - Hongaarse type. Vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittlich gut ausgeprägt. (Netherlands, province of Westfriesland, ducat of 1587, Hungarian type. Extremely fine, Extraordinarily well struck.)"

Ducats were struck in the seven provinces of the United Netherlands from the 1580's. Friedberg lists this type for 1586-1605.
