This specimen was lot 1265 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "VATICAN: Pius XII, 1939-1958, AR 5 lire, 1939 year I, a wonderful example, PCGS graded MS64." This type was issued 1939-41 for Pius XII, the second pope to rule over the newly independent Vatican City. A sede vacante issue also exists for 1939 (KM 20).
