Jean Elsen sale 137, lot 865

This specimen was lot 865 in Jean Elsen sale 137 (Brussels, June 2018), where it sold for €100 (about US$139 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ESPAGNE, Philippe III (1598-1621), AV demi-real, 1610, Valence. D/ B. couronné de f. R/ Ecu de Valence couronné, séparant la date. Très Beau. (Spain, Philip III, 1598-1621, gold half real of 1610, Valencia mint. Obverse: crowned bust facing; reverse: crowned arms of Valencia divides the date. Very fine.)"

This one year type is silver, not gold as stated in the auction description but the weight doesn't seem right for a half real.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.931 fine silver, this specimen 2,39 g.

Catalog reference: C.C.T. 454, Cayón-4425.
