Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 43045

This specimen was lot 43045 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Utrecht. Lion Daalder, 1617. NGC Genuine." Lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. This type is recorded in the SCWC for Utrecht for 1606-34. other lion daalders were struck in Utrecht 1634-52 (KM 30), 1636-69 (KM 32.1), 1640-42 (KM 32.2), 1674-76 (KM 59.1), 1679-83 (KM 59.2), 1679-1700 (KM 72). Most dates are common but choice specimens are rare as striking quality was low.

Specification: 27.68 g, 0.750 fine silver.
