Uruguay 1960 5 centesimos rev DC.jpg

This type was struck in 1960, probably at the United States Mint. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. The 1953 issue is nearly identical in design but is accorded a different KM number, being copper-nickel. No additional five centésimos were struck prior to the reform of 1975.

Recorded mintage: 88,000,000.

Specification: 3.5 g, nickel-brass, 20 mm diameter, designed by T. H. Paget and Gilroy Roberts.

Catalog reference: KM 38.
