Sincona Auction 103, lot 1046

This specimen was lot 1046 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"USA, 5 Dollars 1900, Philadelphia. Liberty head type. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. (Rare in this condition. PCGS MS66, Cabinet piece.)"

The coronet head half eagle was struck 1839-1907 with the "IN GOD WE TRUST" motto added in 1866. Philadelphia participated in production nearly every year with most of its issues being common. Other mints included New Orleans, Carson City, San Francisco and Denver.

Recorded mintage: 1,405,500 plus 230 proofs.

Specification: 8.35 g, 0.900 fine gold, 21.6 mm diameter, reeded edge.
