United States 1867 dollar

After the manufacture of a few patterns in 1836-39, the Seated Liberty dollar was introduced into circulation in 1840 to immense disinterest. Mintages remained small throughout the series. In 1866, the reverse was modified to add the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST". The type was discontinued entirely in 1873. This date is low mintage but is not considered rare after a few turned up in Treasury released bags in the early 1960's.
