The first specimen was lot 74905 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "UGANDA. 10 Shillings, 1987. PCGS SPECIMEN-68. Near-Perfect in terms of appeal and manufacture, this example displays with a satin like luster. From the Kings Norton Mint Collection." Like many impoverished African countries, Ugandan circulation coinage is scanty. The local elites find paper currency cheaper to produce and easier to manipulate. This is a one year type. As of December 2023, US$1 = 3,756 shillings.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common. Proofs exist.
Specification: 5.80 g, nickel-plated steel, 25.91 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-10.
