Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1074

This specimen was lot 1074 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "UGANDA: Republic, AR 10,000 shillings, 1993, Protection of African Nature Endangered Wildlife Series - White Rhinoceroses, large silver coin containing 1 kilogram of pure silver, in original case of issue, Proof." A smaller version (KM 37.1) is reported weighing only 12.94 g. Numista states this coin was struck at the Franklin Mint but that establishment had ceased minting by 1993. An accompanying 5,000 shillings (KM 36) featured the leopard.

Recorded mintage: 2,000 proofs.

Specification: 1000 g, 0.999 fine silver, 55 mm diameter, reeded edge.
