This specimen was lot 42405 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. Ruspone, 1803. Florence Mint. Lodovico I. PCGS AU-55." This type was struck 1801 and 1803. Another ruspone (three ducats), KM C52, was struck 1803-07 for Carlo Ludovico and is slightly more available. Ludovico was the son of the duke of Parma, and was given Tuscany by Napoleon as compensation for the loss of Parma. He died in 1803 at the age of 29 and was succeeded by his son Carlo Ludovico, then aged four years.
