Stephen Album internet sale 28, lot 1057

This specimen was lot 1057 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALIAN STATES: TUSCANY: Francis I, 1746-1765, AR francescone, 1759, a few faint scratches, VG-F." Francis was the husband of Maria Theresia of Austria and Holy Roman Emperor. He was originally duke of Lorraine but was evicted by the French and given Tuscany as compensation, the native Medici having gone extinct. This style was struck 1747, 1758-64 and has "PISIS" at the bottom of the reverse; the similar Dav-1507 lacks this.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.50 g, 0.917 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM C8a, Dav-1505.
