Sincona sale 11, lot 1742

This specimen was lot 1742 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 3,500 CHF (about US$4,333 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN Florenz Cosimo II. 1609-1621. Piastra 1611. Schrötlingsfehler. Gutes sehr schön-sehr schön. (grand duchy of Tuscany, Cosimo II, 1609-21, piastra of 1611. Minor planchet cracks, good very fine.)"

This type was struck 1611-13 and is quite expensive in all grades. It is the only piastra of Tuscany where the bust faces left.
