Steve Album sale 39, lot 2398

This specimen was lot 2398 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $192. The catalog description^[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mahmud II, 1808-1839, AR 20 para, Kostantiniye, AH1223 year 30, a lovely quality example! PCGS graded MS65." In general, thirty para made a zolota and forty para made a kuruş, altho frequent devaluations made a hash of the system. This type, included in the ninth issue, is listed for years 25-32 and is not supposed to come in Uncirculated.
