This specimen was lot 2304 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"OSMANISCHES REICH | Mustafâ IV., 1222-1223 H./1807-1808 AD, 1 Findik 1222 H./Jahr 1, Qustantînîya (Konstantinopel/Istanbul). Kleine Tughra in Linien- und Perlkreis, Rv. Obverse: small toughra in pearled circle; reverse: mintmark with date. Plain edge, Extremely fine.)"
The gold was the victim of frequent manipulation and the denominations changed names in a confusing manner. The SCWC lists zeri mahbubs, rumi altins, adli altins, yeni altins and hayriye altins for this period. Matters were regularized in the reign of Abdul Mejid, with gold coins issued in multiples of the kurush. This gold altin was struck years 1 and 2 of Mustafa's brief reign.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.2 g, gold, this specimen 3.15 g.
