Steve Album sale 55, lot 1942

This specimen was lot 1942 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Selim III, 1789-1807, AR 2 kurush, Islambul, AH1203 year 3, a lovely mint state example! PCGS graded MS63." This type was struck years 1-19. It has a low catalog value as the bad strike and debased alloy make it unattractive to collectors. It must have been even less desirable to merchants of the period.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 25.2-25.6 g, 0.465 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-504.
