This specimen was lot 2379 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Selim III, 1789-1807, AR piastre, Islambul, AH1203 year 3, lovely strike, EF, ex Ahmed Sultan Collection." This type was struck years 1-13. After the reform of 1839, the kuruş was stabilized as a coin the size of a half dime.
Specification: silver, 0.465 fine, 12.3-13.0 g; this specimen 12.71 g.
