This specimen was lot 2336 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $113.05. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Selim III, 1789-1807, AR 10 para, Islambul, AH1203 year 19, rare date, last year of this type, NGC graded AU58, RR." This billon coin was struck years 1-19. After the reform of 1839, the kuruş was stabilized as a coin the size of a half dime. The ten paras, equal to one-quarter of a kuruş, was eventually converted to a copper coin.
