This specimen was lot 436 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "OTTOMANS IN ARABIA: Mustafa III, 1757-1774, AE fals, 'Ar'ar, AH1171, 'izza nasruhu on obverse, mint & date on reverse, very rare and only the second example we have offered at auction, crude VF, RRR, ex Ken Bovenkamp Collection." This type is not listed in the SCWC. We aren't sure where 'Ar'ar was located. There is a town in northern Saudi Arabia called Arar but it wasn't founded until after World War Two. Fals (falus in Arabic) refers to any low value copper coin.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper, this specimen 0.83 g.
Catalog reference: A-E1129.
