This specimen was lot 1886 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SYRIA: Mustafa III, 1757-1774, AE fals, Halab, AH1171, excellent strike; one of the loveliest examples we have seen, VF." This is the sole issue from this area listed in the SCWC for the eighteenth century. It is scarce. The region was under Ottoman control from its conquest in 1516 until the collapse of their empire in 1918. Aleppo was a more important commercial center than Damascus for most of that period.
