Steve Album sale 30, lot 475
Turkey SA30-475r.jpg

This specimen was lot 475 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mustafa III, 1757-1774, AR 10 para, Islambul, AH1171 year 7, lovely strike, Unc." Turkish issues before the reform of 1839 are a mess of constantly changing denominations as the government attempted to debase its way out of perpetual bankruptcy. Three types of ten para are listed for this reign: rosette right of toughra (KM 305, years 1-4); without rosette (KM 306.1, years 5 thru 9) and dual dated (KM 306.2, AH 1180 thru AH 1187). Unlike the twenty para, these are listed as common.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.7-5.1 g, billon, this specimen 3.87 g.

Catalog reference: KM-306.1.
