Sincona sale 31, lot 371

This specimen was lot 371 in Sincona sale 31 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$166 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "REPUBLIC OF TUNISIA, 10 dinars 1998ce (1419ah) AR Pf." This type of 1998 was struck with Arabic legends (shown here) and French legends, both rare. It is unlikely to have circulated beyond the president's circle of cronies and supporters. It commemorated the fortieth anniversary of the Central Bank.

Recorded mintage: 850 proofs.
