Tunisia 1943 100 francs
This specimen was lot 3218 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 1,900 CHF (about US$2,387 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"TUNISIA, Mohammed Lamine Bei, 1943-1957 100 Francs 1943. Sehr selten. Nur 33 Exemplare geprägt. Fast FDC. (protectorate of Tunisia, Mohammed al-Amin Bey (1943-57), one hundred francs of 1943, very rare, choice uncirculated.)"
This type was issued 1938-55 but all dates are rare. But it does not have the mark of value stamped on it, unlike Fr-14, the SCWC does not include it, but it is mentioned in Friedberg. This issue was struck to the standard of the French hundred francs of 1935-36. It seems unlikely that any made it to Tunisia in the middle of the fighting between the Allies and the Nazis.
