This specimen was lot 870 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "TRAVANCORE: Bala Rama Varma II, 1924-1949, AR ½ rupee, ME1196 (1929), a fantastic quality example! PCGS graded Specimen 66." This type was struck ME1084-1087 and 1103-07 in the name of Rama Varma VI, who died in 1924. Travancore was a princely state on the SW tip of India adjacent to the Madras presidency.
