Travancore ME1100 fanam

Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 38625

Travancore in 1907

This specimen was lot 38625 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description^[1] noted, "INDIA. Travancore. Fanam, ME 1100 (1925). Rama Varma VI. PCGS MS-64." This type was struck years 1087, 1096, 1099-1100, 1103 and 1106 at the Heaton mint for the maharajah. One rupee was about seven fanams. Rama Varna VI died in 1924, making this a posthumous issue.

Recorded mintage: 700,000.

Specification: 1.5 g, 0.950 fine silver, 15.76 mm diameter.
