The first specimen was lot 2765 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Frederick IV, 1699-1730, AE kas ND, crowned F4 with one vertical stem // crowned DOC monogram, VF, ex Solar Collection." The second specimen was lot 2766 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Frederick IV, 1699-1730, AE kas, ND, crowned F4 with one vertical stem // crowned DOC monogram, F-VF, ex Solar Collection." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. This copper cash was struck in many varieties during the reign of Frederik IV (died 1730). It replaced the lead cash around 1689-91, being more durable and less poisonous.
