This specimen was lot 73592 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "TANZANIA. 20 Senti, 1984. Kings Norton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-67 Gold Shield. The final year of issue for the series, this incredible Gem--tied with just two others for the finest in the PCGS census--is a must for any robust collection of high grade modern rarities. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." Tanzania is a union of the former British colonies of Tanganyika and Zanzibar and has been independent since 1964. Julius Nyerere (1922-99), shown on the obverse, was president of Tanzania 1964-85. The brass twenty senti shown was issued 1966-84. In 1982, US$1 = 9.4 shillings.
