This specimen was lot 73591 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "TANZANIA. 20 Senti, 1982. Kings Norton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-68 Gold Shield. One of the final dates in the series, this particular stunning Gem offers exceedingly lustrous surfaces and a bronze-orange brilliance. Difficult to improve upon, it stands as the finest certified in the PCGS census. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." Tanzania is a union of the former British colonies of Tanganyika and Zanzibar and has been independent since 1964. Julius Nyerere (1922-99), shown on the obverse, was president of Tanzania 1964-85. The brass twenty senti shown was issued 1966-84. In 1982, US$1 = 9.4 shillings.
