This type has been struck at the Bern mint since 1983. The design succeeded a silver issue (KM 21) of 1874-1967. This specimen was plucked from circulation on a recent visit to Basel. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.

Specification: 8.80 g, Copper-Nickel, 27.4 mm diameter, reeded edge.
