This type has been struck at the Bern mint since 1983. The prior subtype had 22 stars on the obverse. This is a common date. During 1970-85, the "B" mintmark was omitted from the reverse. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.

Recorded mintage: 2,022,000 plus 12,000 proofs.

Specification: 8.8 g, copper-nickel, 27.4 mm diameter, lettered edge.
