This type has been struck at the Bern mint since 1879. Production was interrupted during the two world wars. This is a common date. During 1970-85, the "B" mintmark was omitted from the reverse. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.
Recorded mintage: 40,027,000 plus 12,000 proofs.
Specification: 4 g, copper-nickel, 21.05 mm diameter, plain edge.
