SB824-47797r.jpg

This specimen was lot 47797 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Brass William Tell Altdorf Haberling Shooting Festival 100 Francs, 1988. Switzerland (Huguenin Frères) Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-69." Altho the auctioneers sold this as a hundred francs, the coin does not so state and the platinum version (KM XS37) that was eventually made and sold stated merely "OUNCE 1 UNZE". In 1988, the national shooting festival was held in Brugg in the canton of Aargau. Huguenin Freres made the coinage for that as well.

Recorded mintage: 10,000 in platinum plus 1,000 in brass.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 platinum; this specimen brass.

Catalog reference: KMX-S37 (platinum), KMX-S37a; Hab-P26 (brass).
