Sincona sale 97, lot 3745

This specimen was lot 3745 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,306 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Schützentaler, Schützenmedaillen & Schützenvaria, Uri, 100 Franken 1987, Altdorf. Wilhelm Tell-Schiessen. 1 Unze Feinplatin. Randgravur: "GUT FÜR 100 FRANKEN AM SCHÜTZENFEST". Polierte Platte. Mit Zertifikat. (Switzerland, shooting thalers and medals, 100 francs of 1987, for the Altdorf shooting festival in Uri, one ounce fine platinum, edge lettered "Good for 100 francs during the festival". Choice Proof, With certificate.)"

This type was struck 1986-87 by Huguenin Frères, a private mint, which also made the shooting thalers for the regular festival in Appenzell (KM XS26). This may be just a bullion medallion with little connection with the festival. Silver specimens exist.

Recorded mintage: 15,000.

Specifications: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine platinum, this specimen 31.10 g.

Catalog reference: KM XS36, Häberling 30d.
