Sincona sale 94, lot 3332

This specimen was lot 3332 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$208 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Eidgenossenschaft, 1 Franken 1946 B, Bern. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtvoller Erstabschlag. (confederation of Switzerland, one franc of 1946, Bern mint. Very rare in this condition. NGC SP67, Magnificent first strike.)"

This type was struck 1878-1967 in this alloy at the Bern mint. The design is still in use today tho the coin is now copper-nickel. This specimen is struck to the standard of the French franc of 1866-1920. Few dates after 1936 are scarce and this one is fairly common.

Recorded mintage: 2,539,000 plus specimens.

Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, 23.2 mm diameter.
