Switzerland 1946-B 5 rappen

Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75744

This specimen was lot 75744 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $168. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 5 Rappen, 1946-B. Bern Mint. PCGS MS-66. A satiny example bordering on Superb Gem, with essentially no surface marks to be found." This type was struck without change 1879-1931, 1940-1980. Some of the interruptions are due to the substitution of cheaper alloys during wartime, other dates in the thirties were struck in nickel. This is a fairly common date.
