This specimen was lot 75743 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 10 Rappen, 1940-B. Bern Mint. PCGS MS-66. A pleasant premium Gem, offering rich luster and stunning eye appeal throughout." This type was struck without change 1879-85, 1894-1915, 1919-31, 1940-2015. Some of the interruptions are due to the substitution of cheaper alloys during wartime, other dates in the thirties were struck in nickel. This is a rare date despite the large mintage.
