This specimen was lot 5440 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $115. The catalog description [2] noted, "Switzerland. 5 Francs, 1939-B. Zurich Exposition. NGC graded MS-66." This commemorative promoted the Zurich exposition of 1939, held as World War Two approached. Despite the small mintage, enough were saved that the coin is common today. The five francs was reduced from 25 g to 15 g in 1931.
Recorded mintage: 60,000 plus a few proofs.
