Switzerland 1914-B 10 francs
This specimen was lot 1709 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,743 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Eidgenossenschaft, 10 Franken 1914 B, Bern. NGC MS66. Prachtexemplar. Das neben zwei weiteren durch NGC zweithöchstbewertete Exemplar. (Switzerland, ten francs of 1914, Bern mint. Cabinet piece, Tied with two others for second finest certified by NGC.)"
This Swiss ten francs conforms to the standard of the Latin Monetary Union, where twenty francs = 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold. Switzerland continued to use this standard even after France, its originator, abandoned it after World War One. This type was struck 1911-16 and 1922; only the 1922 is common.
Recorded mintage: 200,000, a better date.
