This type was struck at the Bern mint 1850-51, 1866, 1870, 1875, 1879, 1883, 1886-90. The design was superseded by KM 4.2, struck 1893-1941. The denomination is no longer issued. Many of the dates from the twentieth century are very common but this one is somewhat scarce. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins. The weight was reduced to 2.5 g in 1893 (KM 4.2).
