Sweden 1901-EB 20 kronor

This specimen was lot 50287 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $499. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 20 Kronor, 1901. NGC MS-64." This type was struck 1900-1902 in large quantities. Not released at the time, large numbers were dispersed in the 1990's so that high grade specimens are readily available for a price. The last gold twenty kronor was minted in 1925.

Recorded mintage: 226,679.

Specification: 8.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, .259 troy oz AGW.
