Sweden 1877-EB 2 kronor
This specimen was lot 35162 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $16,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden: Oscar II Proof 2 Kronor 1877-EB PR66 Cameo PCGS, Stockholm mint. A brilliant and excessively rare Swedish Proof, seemingly unpublished in this finish in the standard literature, with Proof strikings within the series always producing spirited attention among collectors. Laden with a thick mint frost over the raised elements while the neighboring fields are embellished with a lilac and salt-white coloration, it is difficult not to be taken in by this specimen's singular eye appeal, which on its own very much seems to secure the top-pop designation from PCGS. This is the only such example we have offered, with the D. Moore piece, the next closest, coming in at an MS66." This type is listed for 1876-80 and is the first two kronor struck under the new reform. It is expensive in EF of better.
Recorded mintage: 168,000.
